Humphrey was invited to become a Trustee in 2007. He was a Partner in a City of London Solicitors firm for some 21 years before, in 1988, establishing a sole practice specialising in commercial aviation law. He is well known internationally in this field and served as Chairman of the Aviation Law Committee of the International Bar Association. He is an Associate Member of the American Bar Association and of the Royal Aeronautical Society and regularly speaks at International Aviation conferences on a wide range of aviation issues. He is now a Consultant to asb law, a large South east of England regional law firm.

Outside his professional field, Humphrey was for 20 years the Honorary Solicitor to a Church in an Inner city deprived area with very diverse problems and serves on the Parochial Church Council and Finance Committee of his present Church in Blackheath as he did previously in Wimbledon. He has been active in the professional activities of The Law Society which he represented for 9 years on the Elections Committee of the National Union of Students. He is a Liveryman of the City of London Solicitors Company and the Treasurer of a small Kent based Charity.
